Warmer welcome at East Midlands Airport as arrivals experience is enhanced
People arriving at East Midlands Airport are now greeted with a warmer welcome after improvements were carried out.
The immigration hall where customers go through passport checks has undergone a refresh of its look and feel, including new wood panelling in line with improvements elsewhere at the airport, along with local landmark images and welcome signage.
Better wayfinding has also been installed to help passengers navigate to the right place for passport checks, including colour coded archways, new queue barriers and clear signage.
Once through border control, there are new signs and redecoration in the baggage reclaim hall, along with the new toilet facilities and new Changing Place facility implemented last year. Other completed improvements benefiting arriving passengers include a new Lost Property Hub in the arrivals hall and refreshed signage and resurfacing of the Short Stay 1 car park to improve wayfinding for customers.
In the arrivals hall, WHSmith is undergoing a refit and the toilets will get an upgrade in the coming months as part of a refurbishment of all toilet facilities throughout the terminal, with those in the check-in hall close to completion.
Further extensive improvements are taking place in the departure lounge ready for the summer season. This includes new stores, new and refurbished eateries, a new Quiet Room and sensory pod, along with a new Little Flyers area for younger travellers.
East Midlands Airport Customer Service and Planning Director Mike Grimes said: “I’m pleased that in response to customer feedback we have enhanced our arrivals experience. The changes we’ve put in place mean there’s a warmer welcome to East Midlands for inbound customers.
“For those heading out, there are huge changes underway in the departure lounge which will make a big difference from Easter onwards.”
