Sun, snow, cities and cruises

Summary

East Midlands Airport offers the full package this winter

East Midlands Airport (EMA) has launched its 2018/19 season which includes a wide selection of flights, and more seats on some routes, to over 65 destinations for those in search of winter sun, snow sports, city breaks and cruises.

The onset of autumn, shorter days and a spray of vivid leaf colour is a trigger to start booking a winter break. For people concerned about fading tans, winter sunshine can be found in Egypt, Turkey, Gran Canaria and Cyprus. Connecting flights to cruises in the Caribbean and the Canaries can also be booked from EMA this winter. While those looking for something more tropical can take advantage of TUI’s one-off flight to Jamaica in March 2019.

Winter sports enthusiasts will be salivating in their salopettes at the thought of a season like last winter when there were bumper snow falls across the Alps. Eager skiers and boarders will be eyeing up flights to Bulgaria, Chambery, Geneva and Salzburg, which give access to Europe’s largest and most famous ski regions.

And if it’s wintry wonderlands that people are after, Santa will be ready and waiting to meet children in Lapland thanks to day trips and mini-breaks.

Less adrenalin fuelled breaks can be had in Europe’s cities. Direct flights from East Midlands go to:

  • Budapest
  • Seville
  • Venice
  • Brussels
  • Prague
  • Berlin
  • Amsterdam
  • Riga
  • Dublin

While Warsaw, Krakow and other leading Polish cities can easily be visited thanks to regular flights to Rzeszow Jasionka and Lodz Wladyslaw Reymont airports in Poland. Further afield, in November, Jet2.com are putting on a one-off four-day excursion to New York.

East Midlands Airport’s winter season begins on Thursday 1 November and continues until the end of March 2019. And now’s a good time to grab a season deal with many operators keen to see a strong start to winter 2018/19.

Heidi Barlow, EMA’s Head of Marketing, says: “If holiday-makers didn’t take advantage of a summer get-away because of the warmer than average UK summer, then I thoroughly recommend a winter holiday instead. Now’s the time to start booking whether it’s sun, snow or city breaks you’re after. We’ve definitely got something for everyone this winter. And with three flights on Christmas Day, we even cater for those who don’t fancy the hassle of a Turkey dinner and all the trimmings.”
