September and October the ‘sweet spot’ to visit Jersey, with frequent flights from East Midlands Airport

The main summer rush has eased, making beaches, attractions and restaurants less busy and accommodation more affordable, while mild weather and warmer seas remain, meaning Jersey is still suitable for coastal walks, sightseeing and outdoor activities – albeit with the possibility of some rain.

There are flights of around one hour 20 minutes to the island from East Midlands Airport with Loganair five times a week, or twice-weekly with Jet2.

Jersey Festival of Words runs to Sunday 27 September, celebrating its landmark tenth anniversary, and featuring more than 60 events across the island. Authors, poets, and performers gather for workshops, readings, and panel talks, with over half of the sessions offering free entry.

The Jersey Marathon takes place on Sunday 4 October, offering one of the most scenic marathons in the British Isles, taking in country lanes, picturesque valleys and Jersey’s stunning coastline. A Marathon Mile open to children aged six and up helps make it a real family day out.

From October 8-10, the Black Butter Making Festival takes place at the headquarters of the National Trust for Jersey, The Elms – where a spicy apple spread that’s been part of island life since the 18^th century will be produced and enjoyed. An alternative apple product is celebrated over the weekend of October 17 and 18, when Hamptonne Country Life Museum hosts La Fais’sie Cidre. This festival celebrates the tradition of cider making, with live music, food stalls and activities as well as cider pressings and tasting.

And there are more ways to tickle your tastebuds throughout October and November, with Jersey’s Delicious Dine-Out Festival which showcases the island’s amazing produce from land and sea.
