New Ryanair East Midlands Airport to Seville route launched

Summary

Passengers looking for winter sun in Andalucía can now fly to Seville from East Midlands Airport (EMA) with Ryanair.

Ryanair launched its new twice weekly route on Sunday 29 October. It takes to 23 the number of destinations Ryanair flies to from EMA.

In 2016 East Midlands Airport welcomed 4.6 million passengers, flying to 82 destinations across 29 countries. This exceeded its 4.5% year-on-year increase. The airport has just recorded its busiest summer season since 2008 and is hoping to build on this and grow the number of passengers flying over the winter months.

Howard Ebison, Commercial Director, East Midlands and Bournemouth Airports said: “Our passengers can say Olé to another new route from East Midlands Airport as we see the start of our winter sun services in what we expect to be a busy season. Our growing route network means that passengers can visit more destinations from our airport which is conveniently located at the heart of the country.”

Seville, Spain's fourth largest city, has just beaten the likes of Hamburg, Oslo and Detroit to be named the top city in the world to visit in 2018 by travel guide Lonely Planet. This was based on suggestions by travel writers, editors and bloggers.

The city's hosting of the European Film Awards and expositions celebrating painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo in 2018, as well as its recognisable filming locations from Game of Thrones were singled out by the travel publication as reasons to visit next year.

While temperatures in Seville can soar into the low 40Cs in the summer, during winter months it rarely drops below 16C between December and February, which makes it a perfect escape from the cold UK.
