Loganair announces another new route from East Midlands Airport

Summary

Loganair announces it is introducing flights from East Midlands Airport (EMA) to Aberdeen, just one week after it was welcomed as the airport’s newest operator.

On February 24 2020 Scotland’s Airline will start a year-round service six days a week offering regular travel for both business and leisure passengers from the East Midlands to Aberdeen.

Operated by a 49-seat Embraer 145 jet aircraft with a flight time of only 80 minutes, it marks Loganair’s third route from EMA. Last week the airline launched services to Brussels and Inverness.

From Aberdeen, passengers can make a secure connection onto Loganair’s network which includes Shetland and Orkney. The convenient weekday and Sunday timetable allows for weekend, long weekend or extended breaks in Aberdeen or the beautiful surrounding region with attractions such as the majestic Cairngorms National Park, world-famous Dunnottar Castle and the Speyside whisky region.

Passengers holding Vantage Cards or valid offshore IDs also receive extra flexibility from the airline to help with changes in shifts patterns or weather that impacts on connecting helicopter flights.

Across all its routes, Loganair provides a complementary baggage allowance, in-flight refreshments and the option to join Clan Loganair – the airline’s competitive reward programme for frequent flyers. Business customers can also opt for several different fare products, offering a range of flexibility as required.

Loganair commercial director, Kay Ryan said: “We’re pleased to be able to further strengthen our presence at East Midlands Airport just a week after our inaugural services there, supporting the region’s economy and offering more choice to travellers.

“There are important business links between the two regions which should be boosted by these frequent flights. Aberdeen also has an extensive leisure offering which should make it a popular destination next year for visitors keen to explore Scotland.”

Karen Smart, East Midlands Airport’s Managing Director, says: “It’s great news that so soon after its inaugural flights from EMA to Brussels and Inverness, Loganair has already committed to another route from East Midlands Airport. Flights to Aberdeen not only provide passengers with more choice but easy access to one of the most architecturally distinctive cities in Europe and Scotland’s East Coast. It’s also an important route for serving the offshore oil and gas industry and therefore will be key for business travellers too.

“Today’s announcement further enhances the network of domestic routes available from EMA making it easier to visit many parts of the UK for pleasure or business.”
