Improved flight schedule to Scotland from East Midlands Airport

Summary

On Sunday 27 October, Loganair begin flying to Edinburgh and Glasgow from East Midlands Airport.

Edinburgh

Weekday flights will leave East Midlands for Edinburgh at 08:30, 14:15, 17:40 and 19:55 with Glasgow departures at 12:10 and 21:20.

The revised East Midlands/Edinburgh schedule doubles the number of flights on the route, which was previously operated by Flybe, bringing immediate benefits to both business and leisure travellers.

Early in the new year, Loganair will upgrade the East Midlands/Glasgow service to three flights in each direction per weekday enabling business travellers to enjoy a working day in either destination.

The Edinburgh and Glasgow routes are used by over 150,000 travellers each year and provide vital connectivity between Scotland and the East Midlands for businesses and for tourism.

The new Loganair services will also allow for easier travel to the Highlands and Islands, with ongoing flights to destinations including Shetland, Orkney, Stornoway, Benbecula, Islay, Barra, Campbeltown, Tiree and Wick at Edinburgh and/or Glasgow.

Loganair’s Managing Director Jonathan Hinkles said: “We’re delighted to expand our services from East Midlands Airport. As well as safeguarding essential connectivity for business and leisure travellers, we’ll bring improved schedules to the Edinburgh route straight away and to the Glasgow route as soon as we can.”

“We’re confident that an enhanced timetable and Loganair’s friendly service will be warmly welcomed by regular travellers on these routes – and we look forward to welcoming them to the fast-growing Clan Loganair frequent flyer programme.”

Karen Smart, EMA’s Managing Director, says: “Loganair’s commitment to improving the frequency of these services is great news for both business travellers and tourists, making it easier for people to visit Scotland for a day or a short break. Improving the domestic network of flights from EMA is important for the region’s prosperity and will enhance productivity and economic growth.”
