Get your trip off to a tasty start at East Midlands Airport Escape Lounge

Summary

East Midlands Airport has brought the catering for its Escape Lounge in house and has refreshed its menus and beverages.

East Midlands Airport's Escape LoungeFood and drink within the lounge is now all inclusive. Included in the one-off entry fee are cooked breakfasts, premium beers and spirits, freshly prepared salads and hot meat and vegetarian main dishes. Also included is Veuve Valmante sparkling wine.

The lounge has also undergone a cosmetic refresh, with new colour schemes, menu designs and locally-inspired artwork. It also features “Instagram walls” where passengers might see their own travel Instagram photos displayed.

The food and drink operation at East Midlands Airport’s Escape Lounge was previously run by Delaware North Company. Now it is managed in-house and food is prepared on-site by airport catering staff. Delaware North Company employees have been given the opportunity to transfer across to become Manchester Airport Group (MAG) employees. MAG owns and operates East Midlands Airport.

The refreshed look and feel is designed to bring MAG’s Escape Lounges across the world up to date with the latest décor trends.

Beth Brewster (MAG’s Executive Vice President – Lounges) said: “Our Escape Lounges offer customers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the terminal. With a greater selection of freshly prepared food and a good range of beverages, the Escape Lounge provides the perfect environment to relax and unwind before a flight. We opened our first Escape Lounge in Manchester in 2000. Over the years, Escape has grown and we now three new lounges in the USA.

“I am pleased to welcome new colleagues into MAG who will help us expand our catering offer and appeal to more passengers who want to experience Escape, whether in East Midlands in the UK or Oakland, California.”
