East Midlands Airport’s starring role in recruitment campaign, as it launches its latest Sustainability Report

East Midlands Airport has played a starring role in a video for a new campaign launched this week to help young people towards careers in aviation.

The JET Pathways campaign by the Jon Egging Trust, backed by the Department for Transport (DfT) and UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), provides young people with access to inspiring careers content, including real-life stories from industry professionals, day-in-the-life profiles, careers videos and information about a wide range of roles and industries – involving contributors from East Midlands Airport.

Lauren Turner, a DfT Aviation Ambassador and Operations Director at East Midlands Airport, features in the video explaining that whatever young people’s skills and interests are, there are hundreds of thousands of jobs across the aviation industry that could be suitable for them. East Midlands Airport and other staff also form some of the backdrop in the campaign video.

The campaign launch comes as East Midlands Airport publishes its latest Sustainability Progress Update Report, which outlines how over the 2025/6 financial year, the airport supported 3,100 people through its employment outreach programmes and Airport Academy course and 1,300 young people attended its on-site Aerozone education facility. The airport also held its first-ever Aviation Careers Festival – backed by the DfT and CAA - with more than 500 students attending.

As well as summarising what the airport does to encourage people into aviation jobs and training, the latest Sustainability Progress Update Report also outlines the airport’s work to engage with local communities, including providing more than £106,000 in grants to local projects; hosting a Youth Summit where young people help to shape the airport’s future; as well as strides in protecting the environment such as converting all operational vehicles to renewable fuel.

“I hope by seeing real-life examples of people in their roles, young people can envisage a future for themselves in this brilliant and varied industry. It’s a fantastic extension of the work we already do to offer pathways to education, training and jobs that’s highlighted in our latest sustainability report.”

Director of Fundraising and Communications at Jon Egging Trust, Sian Hartstill, said: “The launch of JET Pathways marks an exciting step in helping young people explore their future options.

“Filming at East Midlands Airport brought to life the breadth of opportunities available across the aviation sector, and through featuring Lauren and other inspiring role models, we hope to encourage more young people to broaden their horizons and discover careers they may never have considered possible.”

The Jon Egging Trust was established to ensure that young people facing adversity have the opportunities, support and inspiration they need to build confidence, raise aspirations and fulfil their potential.
