And they’re off – on an effortless holiday from East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport has teamed up with airline partner Jet2 and Doncaster Racecourse to remind racegoers about the effortless travel options just an hour down the motorway.

The year-long partnership was launched with a presence from the airport and airline at this year’s famous Betfred St Leger Festival, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the world’s oldest classic horse race, the Betfred St Leger Stakes. The deal included sponsorship of the seventh race on Ladies’ Day – which appropriately was won by Fuel the Jet (pictured with his groom below).

East Midlands Airport already attracts around 440,000 customers a year from South Yorkshire with its reputation for providing an easy way to get away. Located next to the M1 with car parks close to the terminal, the airport gets 99% of its customers through security in under 15 minutes. Recent improvements include a self-serve Meet & Greet option to avoid queues, an expanded and refurbished Escape Lounge, along with new and upgraded bars and restaurants. It also excels at providing extra support for those who need it.

This winter Jet2 has added Gdansk to its Christmas market destinations from East Midlands Airport, along with Berlin, Budapest, Krakow, Prague and Vienna, while next summer it is adding Paris, along with Tunisia, Hurghada and Sharm el Sheik, to its network.

East Midlands Airport’s Commercial Director Adam Andrews said: “We know that plenty of South Yorkshire folk already choose East Midlands Airport as their holiday gateway, and we’re really pleased to team up with our airline partner Jet2 and Doncaster Racecourse to spread the word about the great experience people can expect.”

Rachel Harwood, Executive Director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with East Midlands Airport and Jet2 during such a significant year for Doncaster Racecourse. The Betfred St Leger Festival is a truly international event, attracting racegoers from across the UK and beyond, so it’s fantastic to work with partners who share our ambition to showcase the region and connect our racegoers with exciting opportunities both here and further afield.”
