Thomas Cook Airlines launches its first ever Hurghada flight from East Midlands Airport

Summary

Passengers seeking guaranteed winter sunshine can, once again, fly to Egypt from East Midlands Airport (EMA) thanks to Thomas Cook Airlines' new flight to Hurghada. There have been no direct flights to Egypt from EMA since April 2016.

Thomas Cook’s inaugural flight, its first to Hurghada in Egypt from EMA, departs on Friday 9 February 2018 (09:50).

The new five hour 15 minute direct flight will operate weekly on Fridays until 27 April 2018. This will increase to twice weekly, adding Tuesdays, from November 2018. Friday’s flight on the Airbus A321 is fully booked.Thomas Cook Airlines aircraft

Thomas Cook Airlines carry 400,000 customers to and from East Midlands Airport to 18 European destinations each year and has two A321 aircraft based permanently there.

Henry Sunley, Commercial Director at Thomas Cook Airlines, said, “We are thrilled to add flights from East Midlands Airport to Hurghada this winter season. Across the UK we have increased our seat capacity by 14 per cent to Egypt this year, flying to both Hurghada and Marsa Alam.”

Heidi Barlow, Head of Marketing at East Midlands Airport, said, “It’s great news that we can offer passengers the opportunity to return to Egypt, where winter sunshine and warmth is guaranteed. Passengers tell us they want more routes and a wider selection of destinations all year round, and so we’re proud to deliver this.”
